Thank you for choosing Underground Ink. Please take a moment to read through our frequently asked questions and studio terms. By booking with us and transferring your deposit, you agree to these conditions.
Booking & Deposits
Q: How do I book an appointment?
A: All bookings require a 20% non-refundable deposit. This secures your appointment and is deducted from your final tattoo price.
Q: Are deposits refundable?
A: Deposits are strictly non-refundable. However, if you reschedule with at least 72 hours’ notice, your deposit may be transferred to a new appointment.
Q: What if I cancel last minute?
A: Cancellations made within 72 hours of your appointment will forfeit your deposit.
Consultations & Custom Designs
Q: Can I bring reference images?
A: Yes, you may bring reference images for inspiration. However, we do not copy other artists’ work. All tattoos are original designs created uniquely for you.
Q: Can I make changes after approving my design?
A: Yes, but further changes may require additional charges or rescheduling.
Health & Safety
Q: What do I need to disclose before my session?
A: Please inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, or skin sensitivities.
Q: What health standards do you follow?
A: We comply with New Zealand health regulations. All needles and equipment are single-use and sterilized.
Q: Can I get tattooed if I’ve been drinking?
A: No. We reserve the right to refuse service if we suspect you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you consumed alcohol the night before.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
Q: How do I reschedule?
A: Contact us as soon as possible. Deposits can only be transferred if you give at least 72 hours’ notice.
Q: What happens if I don’t show up?
A: No-shows and late cancellations will result in loss of deposit.
Tattoo Aftercare
Q: Will I receive aftercare instructions?
A: Yes, you’ll receive detailed aftercare guidance at your appointment.
Q: Are you responsible if my tattoo heals poorly?
A: No. Healing depends on how well you follow aftercare. We are not responsible for issues caused by neglect or external factors.
Payments
Q: When do I pay for my tattoo?
A: Full payment is due on completion of your tattoo.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept cash, EFTPOS, Afterpay, and all major debit/credit cards.
Age Restrictions
Q: What is the minimum age for a tattoo?
A: You must be 18 years or older. A valid ID is required on arrival.
Liability
Q: Are you responsible for allergic reactions?
A: No. We are not liable for allergic reactions, infections, or complications caused by poor aftercare.
Photography & Social Media
Q: Will photos of my tattoo be taken?
A: We may take photos for promotional use. If you prefer not to be photographed, let us know in advance.
Q: Can I record my tattoo session?
A: Yes, but please respect our artists’ privacy. Do not film or photograph artists without their consent.
General Conduct
Q: Can I bring friends or family with me?
A: One support person is allowed, but please respect the working environment.
Q: Can service be refused?
A: Yes. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is aggressive, disrespectful, unsafe, or under the influence.
